Ultimate Safari_360°

“Serengeti shall not die!” – Bernhard Grzimek's message continues to shape West Germany's image of Africa to this day. In Ultimate Safari, Flinn Works (Berlin) and Asedeva (Dar es Salaam) take a 360° look at wildlife conservation and tourism in Tanzania. National parks and wildlife protection are widely regarded as entirely good achievements. But their origins lie in violent colonial appropriation. Safari tourism is a major source of income for Tanzania, while at the same time national parks exclude the local population and prevent traditional forms of nature conservation. Ultimate Safari_360° is an adaptation of  the live performance Ultimate Safari (2023) and takes a critical look at the European model of fortress conservation. Using VR glasses, visitors follow a local guide through the famous landscapes and across invisible borders of northern Tanzania.

360°-degree video in two parts on VR glasses (11.30 min and 9.30 min).
